Humanitarian
With over a decade of experience as a photojournalist in some of the world’s most vulnerable regions, Werner Anderson has documented both the hardships and resilience of people affected by conflict, crisis, and displacement. His humanitarian work with Norwegian People’s Aid and the Red Cross has taken him to Rwanda, Kosovo, West Bank, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Ecuador, Zimbabwe, Gaza, South Africa, Bosnia and Herzegovina, South Sudan, Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia. He has also worked in Uganda and Japan for other NGOs.
Through these experiences, Anderson has witnessed destruction, loss, and fear—but also courage, dignity, and the quiet strength of everyday life. His photography does not seek sensationalism; it carries a responsibility to reflect what he has seen and ask: Where is hope? Often, the answer lies in the stories people themselves tell.
Anderson’s humanitarian images capture these narratives with depth and respect, offering intimate portrayals that transform urgent global issues into visual stories that move audiences and inspire action. His work invites viewers to confront the human impact behind headlines and reflect on resilience, vulnerability, and shared humanity.
